Who: Reference interview led by Becca; customer service led by librarians from Access Services and UISP, possibly Ted and Kirsten?
What: General customer service/reference training for all staff who are able to attend
When: Spring semester break (April 27 – May 10). It needs to be a weekday (so Dirac-ians can attend) between 8 and 5 due to shortened hours.
Where: Strozier or Dirac or both?
Why: Because we have poor customer service skills and don’t know how to conduct a proper reference interview!
How: Coordinated via the blog if possible, but meeting if necessary.
Please fill in any gaps in my 5W’s analysis!
For example: Have we asked Becca, Ted, and Kirsten whether or not they’re willing and available? Have we picked a date and reserved a room? Do we want to have more than one training, and if so will one be at Dirac?
I welcome everyone’s input! Let’s get the ball rolling!
I will ask Ted C if he would be willing to do a training or two during the break.
I would have to say we should have one at both Dirac and Strozier.
Any other opinions?
Anna

I mentioned it in passing to both Ted and Kirsten and they seemed cool with the idea. Unfortunately they have been rather busy lately. I think we just need to write up a small proposal with the training purpose and what each instructor can cover (as well as dates and locations)
Any volunteers? nothing to involved.

I nominate Jorge to come up with the proposal.

I second the nomination. And if it’s going to happen at all, we need to act fast!

I need to check this more often, sorry! (I would bring cookies to the next meeting but I’m not much of a baker)
Both Dirac and Strozier sound fine with me. For the Dirac training I recommend the second week (May 5th-9th) because we have new carpet coming in on the first week and things will be hectic around here.
